J1 Summer Work & Travel

A program for international students currently enrolled in university programs, a four month work period is followed by an opportunity to travel. Students depart Bar Harbor after a summer of hard work and fun, and set out to see the sights and cities of the United States before returning to school in their home country. Hampton Bar Harbor encourages enthusiastic applicants who have a passion for hospitality to apply through our sponsor agency CIEE.

J1 Internship

The next level of training for international students who have recently graduated from hospitality programs abroad. Our paid internship program is an intensive training to understand hotel operations and Hilton brand standards. Interns work every position in the hotel and often progress into supervisory roles – training moves from learning the tasks of each position, to management discussions and thinking about the big picture of hotel management. 

Optional Practical Training (OPT) for F-1 Students

The opportunity to gain work experience post-completion of your degree and graduation from a university higher education program. We look for high performing students who have excelled in their hospitality programs who are ready for an immersive experience in hospitality operations and management. Our OPT program is available for F1 Students immediately following graduation. Curricular Practical Training (CPT) hospitality internships are available to fulfill course requirements for graduation as part of a major curriculum program.

Hampton by Hilton Bar Harbor does not currently participate in the H-2B visa program. We continue to evaluate our talent and recruitment strategy to determine future program involvement.
